Calculator methodology

Every calculator pairs an interactive estimate with formulas, assumptions, examples, limitations, and related educational material.

Calculation process

Inputs are normalized into consistent monthly or annual units, evaluated with documented formulas, and converted into readable results. Money is calculated at full JavaScript precision and rounded only for display unless a formula requires periodic cash-flow rounding.

Testing

Formula tests cover representative cases, zero-rate and zero-fee behavior, invalid boundaries, and comparisons against independently calculated examples. Interface tests protect publication status, schema, sitemap inclusion, and internal links.

Assumptions

Calculators model simplified scenarios. Taxes, lender rules, compounding conventions, cash-flow timing, and fees may differ in real agreements. Each page explains material exclusions.

Privacy

Calculator inputs are processed in the browser. No account is required, and FinanceCruncher does not need to receive the financial values entered into a calculator.
